Self-driving cars don't need oversight yet, U.S. regulator says

It's premature to regulate the self-driving vehicles being tested by companies such as GM and Waymo, the government's top auto safety official said, reaffirming NHTSA's commitment to a hands-off approach to autonomous-vehicle development.
